On the first Tuesday of each month, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Arizona time (except on holiday weekends), ACMI hosts a featured guest for a timely conversation on behavioral health. Following the presentation, attendees will engage in a discussion of current issues within the behavioral health system. We are pleased to have Shanika Hunter, Katie Rasmussen, & Erika Rudder to discuss Aurora Behavioral Health. They will share the programs and services provided by Aurora Behavioral Health System.
Our speakers:
Shanika Hunter (LCSW & Director of Clinical Services at Aurora Behavioral Health Systems, overseeing both Tempe and Glendale campuses. She oversees clinical inpatient programs and leads multidisciplinary teams focused on improving patient care and outcomes. With over a decade of experience in the behavioral health field, Shanika has worked in a variety of settings; including group homes, outpatient facilities, state agencies, and hospitals. All while supporting individuals and families through complex life challenges. Passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, Shanika approaches her work with authenticity and humor, aiming to make conversations about emotional wellness more accessible and relatable. She specializes in crisis intervention and program development that empowers teams to thrive. When she’s not leading clinical initiatives, Shanika enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures, always finding ways to connect her love of people, culture, and personal growth.”
Katie Rasmussen is Director of Business Development at Aurora Behavioral Health Systems. She has more than 25 years of experience in the mental health field, working across multiple levels of care. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to helping individuals and families affected by mental health challenges and substance use disorders connect with the resources and support they need to recover and more fully enjoy life. Katie is a strong advocate for equitable access to quality care and is deeply committed to improving community mental health outcomes. She considers it a privilege to support individuals during some of the most difficult moments in their lives and takes pride in witnessing their growth and transformation through treatment and support. She also values collaboration with other community providers and organizations, believing the collective efforts are essential to fostering a healthier, more resilient community.”
Erika Rudder is the Community Liaison for Aurora Behavioral Health. “Erika is a dedicated advocate for mental health and community well-being, grounded in the understanding that everyone deserves access to compassionate and effective care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health in 2022 and now serves as a Community Liaison in the mental and behavioral health field. In her role, Erika connects individuals and providers with the resources they need to heal, grow, and thrive—work that reflects her commitment to supporting others and strengthening community connections. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her dog, relaxing at the lake with family, and being surrounded by the people she loves.”
