On the first Tuesday of each month, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. Arizona time (except on holiday weekends), ACMI hosts a featured guest for a timely conversation on behavioral health. Following the presentation, attendees will engage in a discussion of current issues within the behavioral health system. We are pleased to welcome Shweta Kapoor, MD, PhD, who will discuss Ibogaine and the promise of healing traumatic brain injury among special operations veterans.
Our speaker:
Shweta Kapoor, MD, PhD, is a board-certified psychiatrist and founder of Kalm Psychiatry in Scottsdale and Gilbert, Arizona. She is a Board Certification Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and General Adult Psychiatry. Trained in the research-track residency at UTHealth Houston and earning a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Alabama, she specializes in complex trauma, women’s mental health, psycho-oncology, and chronic pain. Dr. Kapoor serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory University School of Medicine and as a research consultant to The Menninger Clinic; previously, she was on the psychiatry faculty at Mayo Clinic Arizona. An active scholar and educator, she has authored peer-reviewed studies on pain, suicidality, and trauma, delivered invited lectures nationally, and served as an associate editor for the journal PAIN.
